Notes from after dark.

What changed in the games, and why — written down before we forget.

The Bell at the Crossroads on a phone, asking which of two towns to keep

The Bell at the Crossroads · 18 September 2026

Your town waits for you

The Bell now lives on Jibbick. Sign in and your town is kept: open it on any phone and it's exactly where you left it. If two devices have been playing it apart, the game asks which town to keep instead of picking one behind your back.

A Monument board mid-game: a hex island, half of it still dark

Monument · 12 September 2026

Deadlines land on the second

Timed turns used to be checked every five seconds. Now the server sets one alarm for the next deadline and sleeps until it rings. A three-day game costs nothing between turns, and a five-minute one ends exactly when it should.

Monument's knowledge panel: rungs of technology from Walking Upright to Bow & Arrow

Monument · 4 September 2026

Back to the rulebook

The original board game's rulebook and cards turned up, and Monument now plays by them. Tokens take the rulebook's values, mining costs 1 instead of 10, a monument is 33 food and 30 points, the technology rungs carry the cards' names, the first rung costs one food instead of being dealt, and the panel tells you what every rung does.

Monument at full zoom: tents and stone slabs on a single hex

Monument · 3 September 2026

Monument fits in your pocket

Pinch to zoom, two fingers to pan, and a tap that is never mistaken for a drag. Tap a hex and its choices rise as a sheet from the bottom of the screen, while the tribe list and the score step out of the way until you've decided.

The Jibbick sign-in page on a phone

Jibbick · 2 September 2026

One key for every door

Signing in moved out of Monument and into Jibbick, so one account opens every game. You can now export your account as well as delete it, and every screen has a way home.
